Looking to complete that classic "NAM" era loadout or just want a lower profile for your DMR build? The E&C M4/M16 VN Short High-Cap is the perfect blend of vintage styling and high-capacity performance. Based on the iconic 20-round steel magazines used by US forces in the jungles of Vietnam, this airsoft version packs a surprising punch, holding roughly 190 rounds in a compact, durable metal shell.
Key Features & Performance
- Full Metal Construction - Features a robust steel-style outer shell that provides a realistic weight and "click" when seated in the magwell.
- 190-Round Capacity - High-cap internal mechanism allows you to stay in the fight longer without the bulk of a standard-length magazine.
- VN-Style Profile - Short "straight" design is perfect for M16A1, XM177, and GAU-5 builds, or for keeping your profile low when prone.
- Wide Compatibility - Designed to fit most TM-spec M4/M16 AEGs including E&C, Specna Arms, G&P, and CYMA.
- Large Fill Gate - Features an easy-to-access top trap door for quick reloads even while wearing tactical gloves.
The "Pro" Take
The E&C VN magazine is a hidden gem for players who value both form and function. While most high-caps are long and can get in the way when you are trying to hug the dirt, these short mags allow you to get much lower to the ground. They are also the "gold standard" for DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) builds; if you have a scoped M4, a long 300-round mag looks slightly out of place, whereas this short VN mag gives it that precision-rifle aesthetic. The winding wheel is tactile and sturdy, ensuring consistent feeding even during rapid semi-auto fire.
UK Spec & Site Performance
In the UK airsoft scene, these mags are a staple for "Cold War" themed Milsim events at sites like Sennybridge or Gunman Airsoft. Because they are metal, they handle the damp, muddy conditions of a British woodland site far better than cheap plastic alternatives. For those playing at 350 FPS (the UK standard for AEGs), these mags feed reliably without the "stutter" sometimes found in lower-quality high-caps. They are also incredibly popular for CQB environments like The Deptford Bunker or The Mall, where a shorter magazine prevents you from catching your gear on door frames or cover while navigating tight corridors.
Friendly FAQ
Will this fit my Specna Arms or G&G rifle?
Yes, these are standard TM-spec. They seat perfectly in Specna Arms Edge/Core series and G&G Combat Machines, though like all mags, brand-new magwells might feel slightly tight for the first few uses.
How much do I need to wind it?
For a full 190-round feed, we recommend winding the bottom wheel until the "click" sound changes to a slightly deeper tone. This usually gives you about 30-40 rounds before needing another quick wind.
Does it rattle?
As it is a high-cap magazine, there will be a slight "maraca" sound when it is partially empty. If you require absolute silence for stealth, we recommend looking at mid-cap alternatives.
Is the shell real steel?
It is a high-quality alloy shell with a matte finish. It looks and feels very close to the real 20-round USGI mags and will develop a nice "battle-worn" patina over time with use.
